Real Life Go Away, I Want to Play WoW Today

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to sit down and actually write something.  Real life keeps getting in the way of all our WoW time.  Legion has been out for about a month and a half now.  We recently got all our reps to revered, fairly behind the majority of people, but so is life.  Now to try and get Nightfallen exalted by 7.1.  Legion most definitely has plenty to do.  How people are able to get so much done is beyond me.  Most days I have time to do our auctions, and then a few WQ.  If we are lucky we actually have time to get some questing in Suramar done to work on our Loremaster achievement.  But honestly that probably only happens once a week or so.  We still have yet to finish all the normal dungeons, let alone get any of the heroics or mythics done, which we now have quests piling up for.  About the only thing we finished was all of LFR.  But that was mostly for the achievement points and because of the dragon pet at the end.  We are making progress with our achs but it is rather slow go for us.  Along with real life we have been getting everything ready for Myth’s 5 year anniversary (seriously where did 5 years go) and the Halloween party.  We designed new shirts, this time with a Legion theme to unveil after the party.  That in itself took a while.  Hopefully it will be worth it and someone will like it.  Last years took an insanely long time and was much more detailed and not a single person bough it.  Which I understand people not having the money etc, I guess it’s just disappointing when you spend so much time on something to not get any sort of real positive feedback.  But oh well.  I thought they looked good.  And also, being GL usually means you never get recognized for your hard work.  Serious truth.  It’s okay, we clearly aren’t in it for the glory.  The GLs who do it for the glory rarely last more than a month or two.  Being the boss is usually not all it’s cracked up to be.  We are also trying to get back into the swing of our Myth events, with farming hour weekly and getting into some of the old raids again.  We did mythic Highmaul on Saturday but didn’t get enough for the guild achievement, so hopefully we can try it again when we do the next raid.  For all the Legion has to do it certainly doesn’t seem to be holding people’s attention.  The majority of our casual players have all but vanished.  Even a huge percent of the people who were playing constantly have significantly reduced the play time.  Is it because it’s so overwhelming or is everyone we know just having real life issues or is it just that time in their WoW life that they are tired of the game?  Who knows but it would be great if they were able to play more.  We are really not wanting to recruit because stranger danger mostly.  We love the people we have, we are a family that mostly gets along all the time.  New people have a tendency of rocking the boat.  No offense to the newish members we do have, because so far ZJ has been fairly kind to use with the people we have found.  Honestly we just don’t have enough time to do the serious recruiting.  It’s not just the spam in trade and click invite.  It’s the work after new people join that’s exhausting.  The constant talking, even when you had a shitty day, to keep guild chat moving until they get comfortable. It’s having to be a babysitter until you figure out if they are an asshat or not.  It’s making sure they fit into place, or removing them before they rip a huge hole.  It’s not that we don’t want new people to join, it’s just that we are tired.  So we are trying to make the best with what we have for now.  To keep the guild active and keep people happy who are still here.  Another issue with recruiting is raiding.  Right now everyone wants to raid, and our team can’t hold much more.  So recruiting, while we have a team, but not being able to take anyone else for it, makes things more complicated.  Speaking of our raid team, we are doing fairly well.  They are making steady progress through heroic.  We have a decent amount of the team that shows up for farming hour weekly so we can help them out with their flasks and food now.  Still there are some that are only interested in themselves.  But unfortunately that’s generally what happens when dealing with a large group of people.  There will always be an asshat, or two, or three…

Currently, we are facing the, probably ridiculous, dilemma of not knowing which alt we are going to level next.  This time it’s not just about the alt itself and how long we have had it, etc.  This time we have to take into account the class hall, and the class lore.  It makes the decision much more difficult, for us at least.  We are even slowly leveling druids to do the druid hall on night elves (the true druid race).  We also have to take into consideration how quickly we want to level the alts.  Since we have done all the zones as Horde we know the story line, minus the class specific parts, therefore we can level as Horde much quicker.  But for Alliance it will be very slow just like it was for the first time we leveled as Horde.  You have to read everything and really pay attention to what is happening, so you can get the full story.  As of right now our Demon Hunters are the only thing past 100.  This is solely for the purpose of farming.  Both of our DH have gathering professions and we use them for Farming Hour and for personal use to make gold.  But we haven’t done any of the story lines on them past getting our first weapon.  We do want to start alts, and start working on our 3 class hall campaign achievement.  But who to pick… That is the question.
